    Chimugukuru

At the 16th Annual Cal South Shorinkan Camp a major topic discussed was Chimugukuru (the heart, the soul, the mind) and how it has a vital place in a true gentlemen of the martial arts. It's very important to remember the people who sacrifice and expect nothing in return. Those who do these favors for the Dojo, their Sensei or anyone else demonstrate the true meaning of Chimugukuru.

"I have taught you all I know
there is little more I can teach you
I am a candle whose light has traveled
You are the candle I've passed on my light to
It's you who will pass on the light for others
I truly see the light of Shorin-ryu."

Shorin-ryu Shorinkan (小林流小林館, Shōrin-ryū Shōrinkan) is a branch of the Kobayashi Shorin-ryū style of Okinawan Karate, developed by Shūgorō Nakazato, Hanshi 10th Dan. Nakazato was a student of Chosin Chibana. After Chibana's death in 1969, Nakazato assumed the title of Vice President of the Okinawa Shorin-Ryū Karate-do Association. In November 1975, Nakazato resigned from this association and formed the Okinawa Karate-do Shorin-Ryū Shorinkan Association

    The Code of Bushido

Humbleness... People you come across everyday may more then likely
be self-centered, illogical, with self ulterior motives and may cheat and
take advantage of your kindness and may tempt your way of Forgiving.
Stay forward with your "Ways" and remain Humble.

Respectful.. When giving respect we open ourselves to great people to
enter. This allows for fake people to friend you. Stand your ground of
Respect, the evil will finds it's way out and Respect will Set you Free.

Optimistic... Finding happiness within oneself, will open the door for
those whom are envious and jealous. Stand your ground and be
    optimistic.

Giving... There is always tomorrow. Don't frond upon all of you that goes
unnoticed or that has been forgotten for deeds done. The Act of giving /
Pay-it-forward is the best Gift one can receive.

Self-Achievement... Unaware to others you spend a life time working
on personal success weather physical, spiritual or personal. Human
Jealousy may tempt you to question yourself. Don't question yourself.
Continue on the "way" of Self-Achievement.
